E-Core Sliding Fire Doors Introduction

Text Box: Resistance to spread of fire by compartmentation of buildings is a long established international practice and appropriate methods are extensively prescribed in Australian Building Regulations.

E-Core sliding fire doors have been approved to AS1530 Part 4 to suit maximum FRL requirements of the Australian Building Regulations.


Text Box: E-Core sliding Fire Doors are designed to be used where maximum opening sizes are required for the movement of plant or equipment, or where the use of conventional side hung doors is impractical due to limited space.

E-Core horizontal sliding fire doors are specified for a large range of industrial and commercial buildings. Sliding fire doors are generally specified for applications in factories, distribution centres, warehouses, shopping complexes, car parks, hospitals and institutions.

E-Core fire doors are produced from natural and environmentally friendly materials resulting in a one piece E-Core that is asbestos and mineral fibre free.

An E-Core sliding door system for the application at hand is dependent on the size of the opening to be covered and the available side room around the opening. The different sliding door configurations available are listed below.
Text Box: All sliding doors have counterweight a assemblies located at the leading or trailing edges. Bi-Parting, Multiple Leaf and Combination doors depending on size may require more than one (1) counterweight system.

If a sliding fire door requires to be automated then the Trimec Padde AD 2000 is recommended.

Personnel “Wicket” Doors in Sliding Doors

· Satisfy AS1905.1 and Building Code of Australia

· Must have in the closed position, an overlap of 100mm minimum over the opening at the head and vertical edges of the doorset. In addition, multiple leaf doors should overlap one another by at least 100mm

· Must incorporate a magnetic hold open device that is deactivated by any suitable fire alarm system to close the sliding door
